Alison Brooks (Guelph, Canada, 1962) has established herself as one of the most prestigious and internationally recognised contemporary British architects.

This monograph collects in a broad and detailed way his career of the last 20 years in 386 pages, exhaustively documenting each project with abundant photographs, plans and construction details.

His work, developed since the foundation of his studio in 1996, stands out for a sensitive and rigorous approach to each project, in which the specificity of the context plays a leading role.

Much of Brooks' career has focused on the residential field. It has completed more than 2000 homes in the UK, characterised by spatial generosity, energy efficiency and community building.

His educational and cultural projects also stand out, with notable examples such as the Cohen Quad at Exeter College, Oxford, the Folkestone Centre for the Performing Arts and the famous Smile Pavilion. In all of them, the search for versatile, permeable and stimulating spaces for interaction and learning can be appreciated.

Throughout her career, Alison Brooks' work has been widely awarded, winning the three main architecture awards in the United Kingdom: the RIBA Stirling Prize, the Manser Medal and the Stephen Lawrence Prize.

A career marked by exquisite material sensitivity andthe detailed work of construction details, working with a limited palette of materials to give his works coherence. It pursues a careful formal plasticity and spatial richness, creating expressive forms but serene and balanced spaces.

In short, Alison Brooks' work stands out for its sensitive reading of contexts, its innovation rooted in the memory of places and the search for an architecture based on materiality, craftsmanship and the human scale.
